Role summary
This role involves end-to-end management of the equipping process for the new Children's Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for specifying, procuring, and installing all GOSH-supplied equipment, from medical devices to furniture. This requires close collaboration with procurement, clinical teams, and construction partners to ensure timely delivery aligned with building milestones.
Key responsibilities
- Lead procurement of capital equipment for the CCC, including specification development and tender documentation.
- Design, implement and own a controlled information database for managing procurement of ~10,000 trust-supply items.
- Develop bills of quantities, procurement packages and room equipment schedules.
- Develop and manage detailed equipping plans aligned with construction milestones and commissioning programmes.
- Establish and lead equipment workstreams and delivery groups, ensuring clear governance and accountability.
- Monitor progress against milestones, budgets and quality standards, taking corrective action where required.
Essential criteria

- Degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline
- Formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, APM or equivalent) or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Significant experience managing complex projects or programmes, preferably within capital or healthcare environments
- Experience of public sector procurement processes, regulations and governance - including tendering, evaluation and supplier management
- Experience of setting and managing budgets, and of delivering value for money
- Experience of developing and managing detailed project plans, risk registers and reporting frameworks
- Strong project management skills including planning, coordination and delivery against milestones
- Procurement and commercial awareness
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present complex information clearly
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Sound knowledge of relevant IT package (e.g. Excel, project planning tools, databases)
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with a broad range of different stakeholders
Desirable criteria
- Procurement or commercial qualification (e.g. CIPS)
- Knowledge of NHS capital / equipping programmes or healthcare planning
- Experience delivering equipping, FF&E commissioning or other elements of hospital redevelopment programmes
- Knowledge of healthcare equipment, clinical environments and commissioning requirements
- Understanding of logistics planning for capital project delivery

Job summary
This role is an exciting opportunity to be an key part of a dynamic team delivering Great Ormond Street's fantastic new building - the Children's Cancer Centre.
The role will be responsible for end-to-end management of the equipping process for all the GOSH-supplied equipment for the new facility - from Imaging scanners and major medical equipment to bedside and waiting room furniture.
The successful candidate will work closely with the GOSH Procurement department, clinical and operational teams and construction partners to ensure the right equipment is specified, procured, and installed in time for the moves in the new building.
Main duties of the job
- Lead procurement of capital equipment for the CCC, including development of specifications and tender documentation, and agreeing evaluation methodologies and contract award processes
- Design, implement and own a controlled information database which meets the requirements of the Procurement and Project teams to manage the procurement of ~10,000 trust-supply items of equipment.
