Role summary
This Sister / Charge Nurse role is for the PERRT (Paediatric Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team) service, a 24/7 nursing team providing clinical response to deteriorating patients. The role offers development in advanced practice, including advanced life support courses and physical assessment modules. It involves assessing patients, responding to emergency calls, delivering training, and managing risks within a multidisciplinary team. Essential criteria
- RGN, RN or equivalent professional qualification.
- Honours degree in relevant subject
- Advanced physical assessment course (Masters level)
- Recognised mentorship/ teaching course
- Relevant post qualification clinical course (intensive care)
- Evidence of leadership and management development
- Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Provider
- Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS/pILS Instructor
- Evidence of involvement in research or QI activity

- Experience in managing deteriorating patients

Job summary
Following recent successful recruitment we are excited to be able to recruit to a PERRT B7 role again.
This role is suitable for nurses with significant experience in intensive care and in critical care outreach, and who wish to develop further in the four pillars of advanced practice.
If you are driven by values that align with those of UCLH, and are motivated to improve outcomes for deteriorating patients, then this might well be the perfect job for you.
PERRT at UCLH is a 24/7 nursing service, that provides leadership and hands on clinical response to deteriorating patients and supports the staff caring for them.
This is not an easy role, and there are many challenges which will help you grow and develop personally and professionally.
Main duties of the job
The PERRT role provides opportunity to develop in all 4 pillars of the advanced practice framework, and we work closely with our academic partners. We are fortunate to have a senior lecturer in advanced practice in an honorary nurse consultant position with PERRT. Our clinical academic partnership is further strengthened with our senior nurses being honorary lecturers at City, University of London.
All our staff are supported to undertake advanced life support courses (adult and paediatric), and a level 7 advanced physical assessment module within the first 6-12 months of starting in role.
