Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join the Paediatric psychology team, supporting young people and their families with acute and long-term health conditions. The post involves providing assessment and therapy, offering advice and consultation to the wider team, and working as an integrated part of multidisciplinary teams. It is a part-time position for 26.25 hours per week, open to both experienced and newly qualified psychologists.
Key responsibilities
- Work with children, young people and their families on psychological issues related to health conditions.
- Provide outpatient and inpatient assessment and therapy for families.
- Offer advice, consultation and training to the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Work effectively as an integrated part of different multidisciplinary teams.
- Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner with families and the wider MDT.
Essential criteria
- Band 8a & B7 - Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Band 8a & B7 - Post-graduate doctorate (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) in Clinical Psychology
- Ability to work effectively within a multi- disciplinary team, with an appropriate level of assertiveness and flexibility.

- Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Enthusiasm for a broad range of psychological phenomena, an interest in models of service delivery, and an ability to articulate the value added by clinical psychology services within the context of multidisciplinary teams and the specified service.
- A high level ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families carers and a wide range of lay and professional persons within and outside the NHS.
- Demonstrable understanding of the implications of long term conditions and disability for either adults, children, young people and their families (as applicable in the speciality).
- Experience and skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.

Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our supportive Paediatric psychology team to serve the needs of young people and their families with acute and long-term health conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant, friendly and supportive psychology team in the Paediatric Department at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. We have Clinical Psychologists working in the Paediatric specialties of oncology, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, neonatal intensive care, epilepsy, rheumatology, gastroenterology and childhood obesity. We are seeking a psychologist to work within paediatric psychology for 26.25 hours per week.
Although this is a band 8A post, this is also open to newly qualified psychologists as part of our 18-month preceptorship. Newly qualified staff who are yet to be HCPC registered will be temporarily appointed at Band 6. Experience in Paediatrics is desirable but not absolutely necessary, and a passion for working with children, young people and their families is essential.
