Role summary
This role involves coordinating medicine hub activities within primary care settings across North Tyneside Neighbourhood practices. The Senior Pharmacy Technician will deliver comprehensive medicines management services, including reconciliation and repeat prescription requests, under the guidance of the Clinical Pharmacy Service. They will also conduct medicines management audits and provide advice to healthcare professionals, patients, and carers. The post holder will manage a team and ensure high standards of patient care and teamwork.
Essential criteria
- BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge e.g. national certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification, plus specialist training and experience equivalent to degree level (or equivalent level of knowledge and / or experience)
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- To hold CPPE PCPEP qualification. If not held will need to be complete within 24 months.

- An appropriate accredited technician checking qualification.
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
- Experience and knowledge
- Experience of working in primary care, or with primary care teams
- Previous medicines management experience
- Audit experience
- Experience of co-ordinating and prioritising daily workloads
- Previous relevant experience working in Pharmacy
- Previous experience of managing/supervising staff
- Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
- Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role

Job summary
Working for NPC North Tyneside Neighbourhood practices, you will be working between 49 Marine Avenue, Park Parade, Nelson and Spring Terrace surgeries. The Senior Pharmacy Technician will co-ordinate the medicine hub activities to the extent necessary to ensure the development and maintenance of a high standard of patient care, sound teamwork and close co-operation with the clinical and managerial team.
The post holder will work under the management of the Clinical Pharmacy Service to deliver a comprehensive medicines management in a primary care setting to ensure a safe and efficient service is maintained, delivering a range of medicines management activities including medicines reconciliation and repeat prescription requests.
Pharmacy staff in all sectors and other healthcare professionals will ensure a patient orientated medicines management service is provided, conducting medicines reviews for patients. To work closely with the Clinical Pharmacist to adopt a team approach to medicines management. To work with the Clinical Pharmacist to develop and undertake medicines management audits, to support discussion within the practice and agree subsequent actions.
