Role summary
This role is for a Neonatal Clinical Practice Educator, a clinical expert who will provide specialist services and advice within the multi-professional team. The post holder will focus on supporting Neonatal QIS nurses/midwives in training, monitoring and improving education standards through clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching, and professional leadership. They will provide clinical expertise and knowledge related to the identification, assessment, treatment, and management of neonates and the neonatal service. The position involves supporting learners in the practice environment and facilitating their development.
Essential criteria
- oCurrent NMC Professional Registration oFirst level Degree o332 CPD Foundations in Neonatal Nursing or equivalent o333 CPD Specialist Skills in Neonatal Nursing or equivalent oTeaching and Assessors Qualification oDemonstrate CPD oNLS
Desirable criteria
- oPost Graduate Certificate in Education oCompletion of leadership development programme/ course
- oProfessional clinical experience oDemonstrable leadership skills and proven ability to create and sustain a positive learning environment oMentor/Educator/Practice Assessor preparation qualification and maintains requirements for Practice Educators oSignificant demonstrable experience of supporting learners in the practice environment. oEnhanced presentation skills, able to present information to individuals, small groups and in large forums such as lecture theatres oExperience in successfully manage change
- oRecord of leading and effectively managing quality improvement
- oKnowledge of Public Health agenda oKnowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda and its implications

Job summary
Due to investment in our education team we are looking for a high profile, accessible and responsive educator. A clinical expert, working as a member of the multi-professional team, providing and developing specialist services and advice who is able to make informed decisions within their own speciality and scope of professional practice to ensure agreed standards and objectives are met.
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to identification, assessment, treatment and management of the Neonate and the Neonatal service. The post holder will focus on supporting the Neonatal QIS nurses / Midwives in training. They will monitor and improve standards of education through clinical audit, evidence base practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership.
