Role summary

This role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to reduce health inequalities and early mortality rates for people with Learning Disabilities in Leeds. The post holder will support and develop team members with Learning Disabilities, as well as patients and carers, through co-production initiatives. Key responsibilities include assisting in developing and maintaining initiatives to facilitate service user involvement, increasing individual control over care, and supporting service development. The role requires working alongside practitioners to foster inclusive practices and coordinate large-scale initiatives for service user inclusion in healthcare decision-making.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the daily work schedule of three co-workers within the team.
  • Undertake supervision and employment reviews for co-workers to ensure their wellbeing and development.
  • Work alongside practitioners to develop more inclusive practice.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of large-scale initiatives to include service users in wider healthcare decision-making processes.
  • Work alongside Involvement co-ordinators with lived experience of a learning disability to ensure their expertise is utilised in projects.

Essential criteria

  • An appropriate qualification or equivalent experience to Learning Disability Diploma/NVQ4 level.
  • Experience of designing and producing accessible information.
  • A positive attitude towards people with learning disabilities.
  • Be able to evidence that you can meet the support needs of people with learning disabilities in different environments.
  • This role will largely be self-directed. Therefore, the post holder should display enthusiasm and self-motivation.

Job summary

The post holder will be required to work as part of a wider team of multi-disciplinary professionals and health care workers who work to reduce health inequalities in the city of Leeds as part of the Trust's ongoing commitment to reducing the early mortality rate of people with a Learning Disability.The successful candidate for this role will play a keen interest in the support and development of people with a Learning Disability who are employed in the team, as well as the patients and carers that we work with in order to support work that is rooted within the remit of co-production.The post holder will support and assist in developing and maintaining initiatives to facilitate the involvement of service users at both an individual and collective level within the Learning Disability Service. This will involve working on a broad range of initiatives designed to increase individuals control over their own care, and the ongoing development of services.
