Role summary
This role involves providing tobacco dependence advice and support to inpatients and staff across Norfolk & Waveney. You will conduct one-to-one and group sessions, develop personalised quit plans, and offer behavioural support and health education. The advisor will also work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and travel to various NSFT sites to deliver smoking cessation training and support.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and group-based tobacco cessation support, including face-to-face, remote, or telephone consultations.
- Help people develop personalised quit plans, including harm reduction approaches.
- Offer behavioural support and health education to encourage lasting change.
- Advise on stop smoking therapies.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide safe and effective care.
- Support the assessment, development, and implementation of treatment plans for patients identified as smokers.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent
- Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Good general IT skills
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships
- Ability to work well in a challenging environment
- Understanding of Mental Health Issues
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within the NHS in the community/mental health services
- Previous experience of working within substance misuse services
- Ability to work and communicate in group settings
- Understanding of audit and evaluation
- Good knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice in smoking cessation, the consequences of smoking and the benefits of quiting
- Knowledge of principles of health promotion and issues of health inequality

Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Tobacco Dependence Advisor to join our Physical Health Corporate Team at NSFT .
In this role you will provide tobacco dependence advice supporting inpatients and staff across Norfolk & Waveney to reduce harm and quit smoking through behavioural and motivational interventions
This role will involve working directly with patients to assess and support needs relating to tobacco dependency
Main duties of the job
One to one, and group, based tobacco cessation support; which maybe face to face, remote consultation or via telephone
