Role summary

This role is for an experienced and motivated Personal Assistant/Medical Secretary within the Radiology Secretarial Team. Based at Aintree site, the post holder will provide comprehensive administrative support to consultants and speciality teams, managing diaries, appointments, and travel. Excellent communication, organisational, and secretarial skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks. The role requires a good knowledge of medical terminology and strong IT skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive service to consultants and speciality teams with minimum supervision.
  • Organise own workload and co-ordinate activities with other medical secretaries.
  • Keep diaries up to date, arrange appointments, and arrange travel and accommodation.
  • Support consultants in non-clinical activities by preparing presentation documents and arranging meetings.
  • Operate an effective bring forward system and filing system.
  • Mentor, train and supervise relevant staff as required, and deal with annual leave and sickness absence requests.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to GCSE/O Level standard/equivalent or higher
  • RSA/OCR Typing/Word processing Level 3 or equivalent
  • RSA/OCR Audio typing Skills Level 3
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Secretarial Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Excellent I.T. skills with knowledge and experience of all Microsoft office packages
  • Demonstrable experience working in an NHS office environment as a medical secretarial

Band 4 PA - Radiology Department - AUH site Full time 37.5 HRS Monday to Friday 7.5 HRS per day We currently have a vacancy within our Radiology Secretarial Team for an experienced, enthusiastic and well-motivated PA/Medical Secretary. This role is based on the Aintree site with the expectation of cross site working if and when required. A good knowledge of medical terminology along with excellent keyboard and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be expected to undertake all administrative duties, be well organised, able to plan your own workload using your initiative and work to deadlines.
