Role summary
This role is for an Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic team at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. You will manage a complex caseload of patients with spinal cord injury, providing assessment, treatment, and evaluation. The position involves supervising staff, educating patients and families, and collaborating with physiotherapy colleagues. You will also contribute to departmental audit, service development, and research projects.
Key responsibilities

Essential criteria
- Current registration with Health Professions Council
- Diploma /Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Field work/clinical educators course
- Minimum of 3 years working experience at Band 6 level
- Experience in student clinical supervision
- Experience in supervision of junior staff
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
- Participation in audit and research activities
- Establish and maintain CPD Portfolio
Desirable criteria
- BAOT,Membership
- Masters degree in related field
- Membership of professional special interest group
- Minimum of 2 years working in SCI rehab or related field
- Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning

Job summary
Do you have experience in the field of neurorehabilitation, wheelchair services, hand therapy or paediatrics? Come and join our dynamic team of occupational therapists and support workers providing high quality specialist spinal rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The National Spinal Injuries Centre has a long history and is the largest of the UK spinal centres with 102 beds. The OTs are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team and help to deliver the service including key working responsibilities. There are opportunities for ongoing education and to develop your skills working with experts in this specialist field.
Main duties of the job
Manage a caseload of patients with spinal cord injury and be responsible for the assessment, treatment and evaluation of these individuals.
Your patients will have complex presentations and you will need to draw on your years of experience in a wide variety of settings to ensure all interaction is patient centred.
Close collaboration with colleagues in physiotherapy is essential. Supervision of staff and providing education for patients and their families is key to this role as is liaison with community services.
