Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, caring, and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join the sexual health service team in Blackpool. The role involves assisting doctors and nurses to provide high-standard care to patients, promoting dignity and comfort. The post holder will work as a team member to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the service. Flexibility, including evening and weekend sessions, is required.
Essential criteria
- Evidence of qualifications obtained at secondary/high school or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 2 or equivalent
- To have worked in a hospital or community health care setting in the last 12 months
- Previous work experience in a sexual health setting
- Currently performs venepuncture
- Evidence of good communication abilities both written and verbal
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Basic computer/word processing skills
- Attention to detail
- Organisational skills
- Understanding of effective record keeping
- Non judgmental attitude
- Flexible i.e. shift system in operation which includes evening and weekend sessions
- Enthusiastic
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to travel between sites
- Awareness of own limitations and boundaries
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions
- Effective communication with other health professionals
- Understanding of confidentiality policies in Sexual Health

Job summary

The post holder will be required to assist doctors and nurses in order to provide a high standard of care to patients attending all areas of Sexual Health Services ensuring they promote the patient dignity and comfort. Main duties of the job
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To assist the Doctor or Nurse throughout the clinical examination or clinical procedure of patients in sexual health clinics.
- To offer emotional support to patients during the examination procedure.
- To act as a chaperone to both medical and nursing staff as required according to trust policy.
