Role summary
This role is for a dynamic, experienced, and innovative nurse to join the Haematology Day Treatment Unit (DTU) team at the Churchill Hospital as a deputy nurse manager. The unit cares for cancer patients requiring Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT). The post-holder will assist in providing clinical and managerial leadership, ensuring safe delivery of SACT services, and contributing to clinical practice development. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the unit nurse manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership for staff and the safe delivery of the SACT service.
- Be part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) ensuring patients attending the DTU are cared for to the highest possible standard.
- Contribute to the development of clinical practice in a positive manner to maintain a consistent, motivated day treatment focus.
- Be available to travel between DTUs at the Churchill and Horton hospitals to assist where required.
- Provide leadership and supervision, managerial direction and support to junior colleagues within the day unit team.
- Act as a clinical role model, demonstrating expert knowledge and skills in the care of patients receiving SACT.
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse: entry on part 1 or 12 of the NMC register
- Experience in an acute setting and relevant specialist experience
- Demonstrable experience in ward co-ordination
- Evidence of commitment to the Oxford University Hospitals' vision and values.

- Teaching/Management experience

Job summary
The Day Treatment Unit (DTU) at the Churchill Hospital cares for patients with cancer who require a wide range of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) including classic chemotherapy and newer novel agents such as immunotherapies and gene therapy.
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and innovative nurse to join our Haematology DTU team as a deputy nurse manager to help the team achieve the best care for patients and the safe administration of SACT. Please note, this is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
