Role summary
This role is for a compassionate Registered Nurse to join the District Nursing North Sedgemoor team, providing care to patients in their homes. You will manage complex health issues, collaborate with other disciplines, and make autonomous clinical decisions. The position involves developing a broad range of nursing skills, including IV medication administration, palliative care, and wound management. Comprehensive training and guidance will be provided.
Essential criteria
- Relevant degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification
- Appropriately registered with the Professional body as per post requirements
- Evidence of good standard of literacy and English language skills

- Evidence of continuing professional development and to have undertaken post registration training, coaching and / or mentorship training
- Knowledge and experience of current national policies affecting the NHS
- Knowledge of audit and research skills
- Understanding of clinical governance
- Knowledge of physical & Mental health needs or know where to access appropriate advice
- Substantial experience in the required setting
- Ability to undertake the higher-level clinical skills required for the specialist area
- Demonstration experience in the required setting
- Demonstrate clinical and managerial leadership ability

- Able to demonstrate clinical reasoning skills to assimilate information to make a clinical judgement regarding diagnosis and intervention
- Ability to communicate in a professional way with people at all levels of understanding either face to face, on the telephone, e-mail, or written communication by dealing with incident reports or writing statements
- Compassionate - Open minded, treats colleagues, patients, carers and relatives with dignity and respect.
- Dexterity and accuracy required for, e.g., intravenous injections, syringe pumps and infusion, insertion of catheters and removal of sutures
- Recognising in yourself and others the impact that frequent exposure to distressing circumstances has on care and compassion and being able to respond professionally
- Ability to work autonomously
- Professional and patient focussed approach, acting as a role model to colleagues and junior staff members.

- Must be a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to transport with appropriate business insurance to travel throughout the Trust as appropriate for role.

Are you a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) seeking a new opportunity? We have Community Staff Nurse position available within the District Nursing North Sedgemoor team in Sedgemoor Neighbourhood covering Highbridge, Burnham, Cheddar, Axbridge and all the villages in between. Should you be successful the team cross-cover the whole area.
The shift patterns are 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm 10am-6pm or 2pm-10pm. You will also work one in four weekends which include additional unsocial hours enhanced payments. We offer flexible working solutions where possible to ensure a work-life balance and part-time hours will be considered.
You'll need to be a car driver with your own vehicle to visit patients in their own homes. We offer a generous mileage allowance to cover the use of your car for NHS business, which includes both mileage and depreciation.
