Role summary
This is a permanent, part-time Band 5 Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner role within the Learning Disability CAMHS service. The post holder will provide intensive positive behaviour support assessments and interventions to children and young people with complex needs and their families/carers. Working under the direction of the iPBS Service Lead and a Clinical Psychologist, the role involves delivering intervention programmes in various settings and supporting functional assessments.
Key responsibilities
- Work as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner in the Learning Disability CAMHS.
- Ensure a clinically effective, high quality Intensive Positive Behaviour Support Service (iPBS) is provided to children and young people and their families/carers.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary service under the direction of the iPBS Service Lead.
- Deliver intensive positive behaviour support assessments and interventions to children and their families with complex needs.
- Provide support and health promotion, and offer assessment and intervention to children and young people and their families/carers with a Clinical Psychologist.
- Support in the assessment of complex needs (including functional assessment) and the delivery of interventions to improve complex behaviour issues in children and young people under the direction of the Clinical Psychologist.
- Deliver intervention programmes to children and young people in their specialist educational settings, short break provision and their home setting.
- Be willing and able to work between 7am and 7pm as needed.
Essential criteria
- The post holder is required to have demonstrated a good level of academic success either with qualifications at Bachelors Level 2:1 or higher in a related field such as psychology or through a related professional qualification such as Learning Disability Nursing.
- Evidence of completion of significant CPD in Positive Behaviour Support and/or Applied Behavioural Analysis.

- Qualification in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Positive Behaviour Support
- Experience of working with children and young people with learning disability and complex emotional and behavioural needs.
- Experience of implementing Positive Behaviour Support with children and young people with learning disability
- Education and qualification
