This role is for an Anaesthetic Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner in Main Theatres and Day Surgery. Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care under supervision, implementing basic and complex healthcare practices.
- Effectively communicate with patients, relatives, and colleagues, reporting incidents and contributing to team discussions.
- Utilise resources effectively, delegate tasks to junior staff, and support peers through preceptorship.
- Participate in policy development and quality audits, engaging in reflective practice and promoting evidence-based practices.
- Maintain high standards of clinical care, keep patients informed, identify risks, and update clinical skills for ongoing professional development.
Essential criteria
- First Level Registration / Registered Nurse (NMC) or an Operating Department Practitioner on the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), For ODPs, Diploma of Higher Education in Operating Department Practice or equivalent
- Experience in an acute setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills - both written and verbal
- Up to date clinical knowledge
- Awareness of current nursing developments appropriate to area
- Able to work long days, late shift, nights, weekend and on-call shifts as the service requires.
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship Training Qualification/Practice Assessors Training
- Theatre/Recovery Course.
- Post registration anaesthetic experience.
