Role summary
This role is for a compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurse to join a friendly Diabetes and Endocrinology ward. You will provide care for patients with acute and complex medical conditions, including specialist diabetes and endocrine care. The position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, administering medications, and supporting patients in managing their conditions. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to treatment and discharge planning, and maintaining high standards of care. Both experienced and newly qualified nurses are welcome.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work calmly in a busy environment
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Team player, able to problem solve and meet team objectives
- Confident to work under own initiative
- Good IT skills
- Understands the importance of patient confidentiality and Data Protection
- Accurate with attention to detail
- Supports patient and staff equality and diversity
- Ability to provide patients with an environment which supports privacy and dignity
- An awareness of current political and professional issues
- Ability to show empathy and compassion to patients and their relatives
- Education and qualifications
- NMC Registration or newly Qualified
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- RGN Degree / Diploma
- Recent previous acute experience within the NHS
- Flexible approach to working hours/duties to meet the needs of the service
- Motivated to deliver a high quality service
- Willing to undertake further education and training to benefit the department.

Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Diabetes and Endocrinology ward.
The ward provides care for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions, alongside specialist care for people living with diabetes and endocrine disorders. This provides an excellent opportunity to develop broad acute medical nursing skills while gaining specialist knowledge and experience in diabetes care.
You will work within an experienced multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective and individualised care throughout the patient journey, from admission and assessment through to treatment, recovery and discharge.
Previous diabetes experience is not essential. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified nurses who are motivated to learn, develop their clinical skills and contribute positively to our team.
We offer a supportive working environment with induction, preceptorship where appropriate, ongoing education and opportunities to develop specialist knowledge and clinical competence.
