Role summary

This is a Band 6 social worker / CPN role within the Central Early Intervention In Psychosis Team, covering maternity leave. The post holder will provide evidence-based recovery interventions to individuals aged 14-65 experiencing a first episode of Psychosis. Responsibilities include managing a varied caseload, conducting assessments, and participating in a duty rota to support service users in achieving personal recovery and remaining actively involved in life.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and co-ordinate timely and appropriate interventions and assessment for a caseload of service users living in the community.
  • Provide evidence-based recovery interventions to people experiencing a first episode Psychosis.
  • Manage a varied caseload providing evidence based assessments and interventions, working closely with Psychology.
  • Participate on a duty rota in assessing for suitability into the service and supporting colleagues on Triage and Duty.
  • Respect individuality, values, culture and religious diversity of clients and colleagues.

Essential criteria

  • Core professional Qualification i.e nursing, social work, occupational therapy
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • nurse registrants : completion of preceptorship
  • The Post Holder should have post registration clinical experience.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full understanding of The Care Programme Approach and Mental Health Act 1983, including the needs and rights of carers.
  • Good knowledge and application of risk management
  • Good knowledge and application of Adult Safeguarding Procedures
  • Proven knowledge of looking after social and health care needs of adults suffering organic and functional mental illness.

Desirable criteria

  • Nurse Mentorship/Practice Educator
  • Ability to conduct first line assessments for individuals newly referred into the service, utilising a biopsychosocial framework
  • Experience of working with children and adolescents with a mental illness
  • Experience of working with individuals with Psychosis
  • knowledge and application of The Mental Capacity Act
