Role summary
This role is for a Community Midwife in Peterborough, supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. It involves providing holistic, evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care within the community setting, including an on-call commitment for homebirths. The successful candidate will manage a caseload, work within a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to continuity of care. Key responsibilities
- Providing evidence based antenatal and postnatal care within the community setting, following local and national guidance.
- Having a good knowledge of safeguarding and working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting women with choice to birth at home.
- Providing education and support for pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period within a varied framework.
- Managing a caseload of birthing people and their families, taking responsibility for all aspects of their care, referring appropriately and working towards a model of continuity of care.
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Communicating effectively with women, staff and other agencies
- Facilitate effective team working
- Demonstrate an ability to apply research to practice and to support changes in practice as a result of clinical audit
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Ability to write reports, guidelines, etc
- Excellent record keeping skills
- Ability to develop self and others to use evidence based practice
Desirable criteria
- Relevant Degree or evidence of further study and experience to the equivalent
- Examination of the Newborn
- Sign Off Mentor
- Evidence and understanding of safeguarding processes and referral to multidisciplinary team
