Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join the Medical / Frailty therapy team as a Senior Therapy Assistant. The role involves working alongside qualified therapists and independently to facilitate safe discharge for patients on inpatient medical and frailty wards. You will need to demonstrate a person-centred approach and have at least two years of rehabilitation experience. The position includes weekend and bank holiday working.
Essential criteria
- 5 GCSE's or equivalent including English and Maths
- NVQ 3 or equivalent
- Competent computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office package - Word and Outlook
- Knowledge and Experience
- Good understanding of the role of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist
- Significant experience in therapy / a caring environment.
- Sound knowledge & understanding of the Rehabilitation Service

- Experience of working within the area of rehabilitation ideally in the acute physical setting
- Experience of working in a hospital / community environment with patients

Job summary
An exciting opportunity exists for an individual with experience in rehabilitation to take on the role of senior therapy assistant within the Medical / Frailty therapy team.
The role will require you to be an active member of the team, being able to work alongside qualified therapists as well as independently, to facilitate the safe discharge of a delegated caseload of patients across the inpatient medical and frailty wards. You will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to a person-centred approach in line with the Trust values and behaviours.
The successful candidate would be required to have at least 2 years experience in a hospital or community based rehabilitation role.
This post will include weekend and bank holiday working, for which a day off in the week is given.

Main duties of the job
Therapists in medical and frailty wards play a vital role in assessing, maintaining and improving the patient's physical and mental wellbeing whilst facilitating a safe discharge. The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the therapists with patients who have a variety of different presentations.
