Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Clinical Team Leader to join the Wandsworth Community Drug and Alcohol Service. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, providing clinical supervision to nurses and recovery workers. The position involves overseeing assessments, care planning, treatment, and support for individuals with drug and alcohol issues, promoting their health, independence, and recovery. The team also collaborates with volunteers and peer mentors to enhance service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strong and decisive leadership and management for staff within RCDAS, including induction, team building, and retention.
- Ensure regular clinical and line management supervision, appraisal, and teaching of staff to maintain high standards of client care and facilitate change.
- Manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs, facilitate groups, and deliver nurse-specific interventions like vaccinations or non-medical prescribing.
- Ensure service information requirements are met through accurate statistics and data inputting for Trust, commissioning, and national reporting.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure clinical records and practice align with CAG, Trust, CQC standards, and national policies.
- Manage human resources issues, including recruitment, selection, performance management, and sickness management.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (BSc (Hons) in Nursing) with extensive post qualification experience a significant proportion of which has been working with people with substance misuse related problems
- Evidence of post qualification training related to substance use
Desirable criteria
- MSC or Degree level training relevant to care of clients with substance misuse problems
- NMP qualification
- Management qualification or relevant experience at senior level
- Evidence of a certificate in Practice Supervisor Training, Practice Assessor Training, Practice Supervisor or Assessor Training, SSSA-aligned training, or a recognised Mentorship Certificate (or equivalent qualification)
- oExperience of taking a lead on specific areas and projects within an addictions team
- oExperience of working with and managing staff within substance misuse and co-morbid mental health/dual diagnosis problems within the community
- oManagement qualification or relevant experience at senior level
- oExperience of assessment and casework which meets the needs of adults with substance misuse problems who require community care and an ability to engage a team to implement this in a systematic way
- oExperience of taking a lead role in multidisciplinary working
- oAbility to both clinically supervise, line manage and appraise staff
- oExperience and skills in delivery of psycho-social therapeutic interventions
- oExperience of recruitment and selection of staff
- oExperience of managing non-clinical staff and other professionals
- oExperience of staff performance management
- oExperience of project management
- oExperience of having undertaken audit work
- Knowledge / Skills
- oWorking knowledge of all relevant legislation associated with care for this client group
- oAn understanding of Recovery-led practice and a willingness to promote social inclusion and recovery principles in clinical practice
- oEvidence of continuing professional development and training related to substance misuse
- oKnowledge and experience of health required and substance misuse specific data reporting and computer literacy
- oAbility to build and maintain high standards of communication with a variety of personnel and agencies at all levels
- oAbility to effectively manage resources within an allocated budget
- oAbility to analyse complex data and use the information to improve performance
- oComputer literacy and experience of use of electronic patient record systems or other health-related recording systems
- oProven ability to maintain a balance between strategic and operational management
- oAbility to work changeable hours/ location at fairly short notice where there is clear and reasonable service need
