Role summary
This role is for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant within the Camden Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service. The assistant will support the service with daily operations, administration, and resource creation. They will work with children and young people aged 2-19 across various settings, including health centres and schools, to facilitate communication skills under the supervision of a therapist. The position involves both administrative and clinical tasks, including preparing therapy materials and recording client observations.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE/NVQ 2 or equivalent and must be able to demonstrate high standards of literacy and numeracy.
- Intermediate level of IT skills.
- Skills & Abilities
- Excellent word processing skills, and experience of full range of Windows software.
- Excellent general office administration skills.
- Excellent time management and self- organisation skills - travelling independently to and from clinical settings
- Knowledge & Experience
- Experience of dealing with the public with a proven ability to deliver a high standard of customer care.
- Experience of working in the public sector/ NHS
- Confident and sensitive telephone manner, ability to take accurate messages and deal with enquiries
- Ability to exercise judgment when dealing with patient/professional enquiries

Camden Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service
We are looking for creative, forward thinking, and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy Assistants to join our well established, innovative speech and language therapy service in Camden. Part time and full time requests will be considered.
The assistants will be working across our Camden Speech and Language Therapy Service. The service works in a wide range of settings including health centres, mainstream schools, college settings, special schools and resource bases.
We work with children and young people aged 2-19 with a range of speech, language and communication needs including deaf children, and children with complex communication and feeding needs.
This post involves supporting the service with the day to day running of teams and supporting the team with administration tasks and resource-making.
We encourage applications from candidates with the ability to speak a community language or hold a British Sign Language qualification.
