Role summary
This is a 12-month fixed-term, part-time role for a Special School Nurse, Band 6, working 22.5 hours per week during term time. The successful applicant will provide holistic nursing care to pupils with complex health needs in special schools within the Stafford Hub. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual care needs, providing hands-on clinical care, and working collaboratively with multi-agency teams. The role requires an experienced paediatric, learning disability, or adult nurse who can work autonomously and deputise for the Team Leader.
Key responsibilities
- Assess care needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
- Coordinate the appropriate allocation of case work in relation to the hub area, including safeguarding delegation.
- Carry out prescribed nursing interventions as per the care plan, monitoring growth, development, and progress.
- Prioritise daily care, responding to emergencies as required.
- Act as a lead for the Special School Nursing Service, promoting high-quality care through training and representation.
- Liaise appropriately and effectively with parents/carers, education staff and other agencies.
Essential criteria
- Relevant professional qualification - RSCN,RN,RNLD
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary working
- Experience of working with children and young people with complex health needs
- post registration community experience
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload
Desirable criteria
- Experience of participating/undertaking appraisals.
