Role summary
This role is for a Specialist Physiotherapist at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville, focusing on spinal cord injury rehabilitation. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, provide assessment and treatment for complex patients, and liaise with the interdisciplinary team. They will also contribute to service development and participate in weekend and on-call working.
Key responsibilities
- To perform assessment and treatment for Spinal Cord Injury patients with complex needs, and to provide advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
- To participate in continuing professional and service development, and contribute to organisational objectives.
- To participate in weekend and on call working.
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registration
- Physiotherapy Degree
- Attendance at post graduate courses in related fields
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
- Evidence of ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Minimum of 24 months relevant post registration working experience as physiotherapist
- Experience of a broad rotational scheme
- Experience of working with patients with neurological and/or respiratory presentations
- Ability to participate in on call / emergency working rota
Desirable criteria
- Particpation in QI and audit projects
- Experience of working with patients with SCI in acute and /or rehabilitation settings
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Full Driving Licence

Job summary
The National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville is dedicated to the treatment of individuals with spinal cord injury. Physiotherapists are part of the enthusiastic and well-motivated inter-disciplinary team involved in all aspects of lifelong management from the acute stage through rehabilitation and post discharge.
An opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist with an interest and experience in neurological physiotherapy seeking to develop their skills in spinal cord injury physiotherapy rehabilitation to join the team at the NSIC. They will be responsible for their own caseload of patients and provideliaison and communication with other members of the interdisciplinary team within and external to the NSIC supporting progression of patients through rehabilitation. They will be active in supporting the goals of both the physiotherapy service and the NSIC.
Weekend and on call working are requirements of this post, as required.
