Role summary
This role is for an experienced clinical leader to manage operational and clinical services across the hospital site. You will coordinate patient flow, overseeing admissions, transfers, and discharges, and support bed management. The position involves working with multidisciplinary teams, providing expert decision-making, and leading during routine operations and escalations. The aim is to maintain patient safety, ensure efficient service delivery, and contribute to an exceptional patient experience.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers and discharges in accordance with Trust policies and agreed pathways.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams and external partners to facilitate timely patient flow.
- Promote a patient-centred approach to care, ensuring patients and carers are appropriately involved in decision-making.
- Support implementation of the Trust Bed Management Policy and Procedures.
- Lead and coordinate internal and external escalation processes.
- Respond appropriately to major incidents, fire alerts, cardiac arrests and security incidents in accordance with Trust procedures.
Essential criteria
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Has experience of working with operational management
- Significant experience as a band 6 nurse
- Recent experience in an acute Trust
Desirable criteria
- Management qualification - NEBs, CMS, DMS
- Experience working in site team
- Leadership qualifications
- Knowledge of discharge processes
