Role summary
Join a dynamic and supportive team as a Rotational Occupational Therapist, working across various specialities including Paediatrics, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Acute Medicine, Neurology Rehabilitation, and Community acute rehabilitation. You will provide patient assessment, treatment, and evaluation, managing your own caseload within a clinical team. The role involves developing clinical skills with senior staff guidance and maintaining accurate patient records. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced OT to gain broad experience within the NHS.
Key responsibilities
- Provide patient assessment, treatment, intervention, and evaluation of outcome for your own patient caseload.
- Formulate problem lists and treatment plans with goal setting and appropriate documentation.
- Assist Senior Occupational Therapy staff in developing new procedures and evidence-based practice.
- Develop clinical skills and knowledge in managing your caseload by following advice from Senior Therapy staff.
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and evaluative records of patient care in accordance with professional and Trust requirements.
- Communicate patient-related information effectively to patients, team members, relatives, and other service providers.
Essential criteria
- Intended or current registration with Health Professions Council
- Diploma /Degree in Occupational Therapy or about to gain this
- Work Experience within the NHS
- Ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning
- Comprehensive Student placements (covering - Community and Physical rehab)
- Establish and maintain CPD Portfolio
- Physical ability and endurance to work in the physical environment of the clinical area of all rotations within this post
- Ability to work at weekends
- Awareness of limitations of own professional abilities
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers to ensure records and reports are accurate and in legible manner (in English)
- Ability to integrate, participate and contribute as an effective member of a team
- Ability to self-direct towards the attainment of clear goals
- Ability to prioritise tasks and functions against well-reasoned standards
- Ability to plan, manage and organise tasks within available resources (including time)
- Use of and/or knowledge of POMR (problem orientated medical records) record keeping
- Knowledge of Current related legislation (H&S, Data P. Act, etc)
Desirable criteria
- BAOT Membership
- Participation in audit and research activities
- Access to a car for working in the community

We have senior Occupational Therapists in each team for ongoing support and we are very friendly, supportive and dynamic services with comprehensive induction, integrated individual supervision, appraisal, in-service and training opportunities.You should currently be registered with HCPC or be about to qualify and have a degree in Occupational Therapy and have access to a car if possible for the Aylesbury community setting.
