Role summary
This is an exciting full-time opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Camden Community Team within the Camden Neurology and Stroke Service (CNSS). The role involves providing specialist assessment, rehabilitation, and management for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders in their homes, community settings, and clinics across Camden. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to person-centred care and service development.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
- State registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Professional registration with RCSLT
- Membership and/or involvement in national and/or local Clinical Excellence Networks
- Sound post-registration experience working as band 5 or band 6, or equivalent in experience:
- Previous general experience to include the following: oNeurology oRehabilitation oCommunity working oOlder people/elderly rehab
- Experience of departmental duties
- Previous experience of working with / supervising students
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Demonstrates flexibility, problem solving, initiative and leadership skills and working well within a team
- Able to demonstrate clinical and professional development
- Ability to reflect on practice
- Understanding the principles of multi-disciplinary teamwork and working in teams
- Understanding of the problems of disability and its effects.
- Awareness of developments in NHS and health and social care service delivery.
- Demonstration of knowledge of standards of practice, evidence and national practice guidelines in relation to SLT.
- Knowledge and experience in a range of formal and informal assessment approaches for swallowing and communication, and ability to make a differential diagnosis
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate treatment approaches for the client group in order to formulate client specific treatment plans.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the application of Health and Safety

- Good understanding of clinical governance principles

- Skills in delivering presentations and training , including basic adaptations to presentation / training style for a range of audiences
- Knowledge of approaches to mentoring, advising, supporting and clinically supervising rehab assistants and support staff and students in training
- Knowledge of basic qualitative & quantitative approaches to audit and research

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Camden Community Team within the Camden Neurology and Stroke Service (CNSS). This post is an excellent opportunity for an existing Band 6 therapist, or an experienced Band 5 looking to develop their specialist skills in working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
The Camden Community Team provides assessment, rehabilitation and management for adults with a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, progressive neurological diseases and other acquired neurological disorders. We support service users in their own homes, community settings and clinics across Camden.
As part of CNSS, the successful candidate will work closely within a well-established multidisciplinary team and will have opportunities to develop skills across a broad range of pathways, including Palliative Care, Camden Integrated Community Healthcare, the Rapid Access Service and Virtual Ward. The role offers the opportunity to deliver person-centred care, contribute to service development and work collaboratively with colleagues across health and social care services.
