Role summary
This is a Band 7 Team Lead position in the Trauma and Orthopaedics Physiotherapy service. The role involves planning and coordinating the service, leading staff development, and providing leadership, supervision, and mentorship to a large physiotherapy team. The successful candidate will promote clinical excellence and evidence-based practice within the designated major trauma centre for the East of England.
Key responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders to deliver a prime clinical service with a clear focus on service improvement through resource efficiency.
- Provide highly specialised Physiotherapy and rehabilitation to patients in Trauma and Orthopaedic wards, Elective Orthopaedic Centre, and Day Surgery Units.
- Undertake the Team Leader role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to Trauma and Orthopaedic patients.
- Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice.
- Lead implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
Essential criteria
- Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
- State Registration
- Ability to work to MSc standard
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate level education/CPD
- Substantial postgraduate experience at Band 6 level providing a broad range of experience. Including both trauma and elective Orthopaedics (inpatient), elderly care, neurological, DME and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Substantial Supervisory Skills of Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy Assistants and students.
- Substantial working as part of a Physiotherapy team and wider MDT.
- Substantial knowledge of inpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy
- Able to work independently
- Able to pass on skills / knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to manage own caseload
- IT skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Committed to personal and team development
- Ability to carry out audits and service delivery evaluations

Job summary
A Band 7 team leader position has arisen in our Trauma and Orthopaedics service. We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and innovative individual who will work alongside another Band 7 Team Lead on the planning and coordination of the service. With the full support of management, you will play a key role in service and staff development, utilising your clinical, leadership and managerial skills. You will work with a large, friendly and dedicated Physiotherapy team to whom you will provide leadership, supervision and mentorship to. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting clinical excellence and evidence-based practice.
We are the designated major trauma centre for the East of England. We also serve the orthopaedic district general functionality for our local population.
