Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a generic Therapy Assistant Practitioner to work in an acute hospital setting at Leighton Hospital, focusing on frailty and rehabilitation. The role involves working alongside qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, carrying out delegated assessments and interventions. The successful candidate will contribute to patient assessments, implement treatment plans, and support a seven-day service.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and treatment of patients under the guidance of a qualified clinician.
  • Follow departmental protocols and guidelines, referring to a qualified clinician for advice.
  • Independently carry out specified assessments, interventions, and programmes as planned with a qualified clinician.
  • Monitor and report progress of patients during the implementation of planned interventions and programmes.
  • Hold a caseload as delegated by a qualified clinician, reporting back at agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to assessments, carry out treatment plans agreed by the qualified therapist, and contribute to a seven-day service.

Essential criteria

  • Acute ward experience
  • Worked as a Band 3 therapy assistant for 12 months or more
  • Worked in the NHS for at least 12 months
  • Generic Physio and OT competencies
  • Knowledge of Acute care and national guidelines
  • Minimum academic requirements as per Person Spec

Job summary

THERAPY ASSISTANT PRACTITIONER : Leighton Hospital in-patient wards.

BAND 4 - 22.5 HOURS

Are you interested in working in an acute hospital setting, and have a passion for working with patients who have frailty? Do you want to work in a friendly welcoming team? If so, this may be the job for you. An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen for a generic Therapy Assistant Practitioner.

This post it to work alongside qualified Occupational therapists and physiotherapists, and therapy assistance to support the team on the wards. The band 4 will carry out delegated assessments and interventions by a qualified practitioner.

The candidate will have at least 12 months experience of working as a band 3 therapy assistant. We also ask that they have 12 months NHS experience, especially working on acute wards, as this will be helpful to the candidate. Those who have not had band 3 therapy experience or NHS experience need not apply.

Progressive posts may be considered. An interest in Occupational therapy and/or physiotherapy is of value and would be beneficial.
