Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic Information Governance Officer to join a growing team. The successful candidate will help ensure the organisation meets statutory obligations and maintains high standards of information governance, confidentiality, and data protection. It involves providing specialist advice, supporting compliance with regulations like UK GDPR, assisting with data security incidents, and promoting best practice across the organisation. The role offers variety and collaboration with various services.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance on Information Governance, data protection and records management.
  • Support compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, Caldicott Principles and NHS information governance requirements.
  • Review and support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Information Sharing Agreements and other governance documentation.
  • Assist in the investigation and management of data security incidents and confidentiality breaches.
  • Support responses to Subject Access Requests and other individual rights requests where required.
  • Assist with the maintenance and review of Information Governance policies, procedures and guidance.

Essential criteria

  • Ability to apply information governance principles to ensure compliance, data protection, and ethical handling of information within organizational frameworks.

  • Ability to deliver training face to face to large numbers of various staff groups/roles
  • Ability to work on own or in a group, contributing effectively in all situations
  • Ability to produce written reports to a high standard
  • Ability to use or learn core systems to complete subject access requests (for example, EDiscovery & Redaction Tools)
  • A flexible and methodical approach to work to meet the needs of the role
