Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Main Theatre Recovery team, caring for both adult and paediatric patients. The post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality post-operative care, ensuring patient safety and comfort. You will monitor physiological parameters, manage airways and pain, and respond to complications. The role involves collaborative work with the multidisciplinary theatre team and offers development in peri-operative and recovery nursing.

- Registered Nurse
- Evidence of post registration study/training (i.e. ILS, PILS, ALS, IV administration, venepuncture and cannulation
Desirable criteria
- Post registration qualification/course relevant to the specialty (i.e. ENB or perioperative course, teaching and assessing/mentorship
- Previous recovery/HDU/ITU experience
- Proven ability to provide and manage care of post operative patients
- Previous recovery experience (both adult and paeds)
- acute clinical care experience
- Experience in nursing critically ill patients
- Experienced user of hospital-based computer systems
- Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent and safe patient care skills
- Knowledgeable in the care of post operative patients
- Understanding of the NMC/HCPC code of professional conduct
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the MDT
- Teaching and assessing skills
- Awareness of current health issues/ evidence based practice

Recovery Staff Nurse - Band 5
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our Main Theatre Recovery team , providing care to both adult and paediatric patients.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality, evidence-based post-operative care , ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the recovery phase. This includes monitoring physiological parameters, airway management, pain management and recognising and responding to potential complications.
You will work collaboratively and cooperatively with the multidisciplinary theatre team , including anaesthetists, surgeons, scrub nurses, anaesthetic practitioners, and HCA's , to support safe and effective patient pathways.
The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care in line with Trust values and professional standards.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in peri-operative and recovery nursing , including exposure to paediatric care , within a supportive NHS theatre environment.
