Role summary
This Mammographer role involves undertaking mammography imaging in symptomatic and screening clinics, acquiring high-quality diagnostic images, and assisting with interventional procedures. The post holder will contribute to a high-quality, patient-centered breast imaging service as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be accountable for your clinical practice, contribute to quality assurance, and may supervise student mammographers.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake mammography imaging within symptomatic and screening clinics.
- Acquire high-quality diagnostic images and assist with interventional procedures.
- Contribute to quality assurance, audit, and service improvement activities.
- Supervise and participate in the practical training of student mammographers and/or other medical staff.
- Exercise professional judgement in selecting and adapting imaging techniques to achieve optimal diagnostic outcomes.
- Ensure that the Trusts Health and Safety Policies are understood and observed.
Essential criteria
- Experience as a Radiographer within a breast symptomatic service
- Experience of QA
- Knowledge of Breast Screening Programme
- Bsc Hons Radiography or DCR
- Post grad certificate in mammography or equivalent qualification
- Current HCPC registration
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and work well under pressure with accuracy and speed and deal with stressful situations
- Use initiative and problem solve
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Capacity to learn new skills in a changing environment
- Ability to work to specified protocols and policies
