Role summary
This secondment opportunity is for an enthusiastic and flexible Occupational Therapist to join the Northwich Care Community team. The role involves assessing, managing, and treating service users with complex needs, working closely with a multidisciplinary team, and supervising junior staff. The successful candidate will join a 7-day urgent community response rota and may work across multiple sites. A varied caseload includes patients with long-term conditions, falls, orthopaedics, and neurological conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a clinical caseload with autonomy, working without direct supervision.
- Undertake comprehensive assessment, provide therapeutic diagnosis, and implement treatment plans for complex service users.
- Record, maintain, and store accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation.
- Communicate effectively with a range of professionals and external agencies.
- Train, supervise, and support less experienced therapy staff, therapy assistants, and students.
- Undertake the measurement and evaluation of work and current practices through evidence-based projects, audit, and outcome measures.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Previous experience of working in the NHS
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Completion of band 5 rotation
- Student educator or experience of having students
- experience of audits
- good IT skills

Job summary
This post is within the Northwich Care Community. The role is to assess, manage and provide treatment to a caseload of service users with complex and/or multiple needs. They will be working closely with the MDT and provide supervision to therapy assistants, junior staff and students. There may be an expectation to work between multiple sites in the organisation.
The Occupational therapist will be expected to join the 7-day, urgent community response rota and may be lone working within the guidelines of the lone working policy.
This is a secondment opportunity.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, supportive, dynamic team in Northwich Care Community.
We provide a rapid, unplanned and planned response, we facilitate early discharge from hospital and aim to reduce hospital admissions.
There is a varied caseload and you will need to demonstrate knowledge, experience and relevant clinical skills with patients with complex / long term conditions, falls, orthopaedics, general mobility problems and neurological conditions.
