Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Specialist Palliative Therapy Team in Bolton, working with patients in their own homes and at the Hospice. You will deliver physiotherapy and occupational therapy interventions independently or jointly with therapy staff, under supervision. The role is integral to providing high-quality, patient-focused service and offers a dynamic, supportive environment with opportunities for training and development.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with patients independently or jointly with therapy staff.
  • Deliver therapy interventions (Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) to patients.
  • Provide therapy under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Contribute to the continued delivery of a high quality and patient focused service.

Essential criteria

  • GCSE English & maths or equivalent
  • NVQ or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Previous experience with client group
  • Previous experience working within therapy
  • Previous experience or working within an NHS trust/health care/education setting
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to work independently & as part of a team
  • Abililty to cope with a busy worklaod
  • Ability to use initiative
  • Sensory skills eg manual dexterity
  • Ability to plan & manage own time effectively
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to act as a role model
  • Ability to make choices for pt care and in some cases determine the best course of action
  • Ability to persuade/motivate/expalin/empathise with those with communication/understanding barriers
  • Knowledge of how disability/impairment affects function
  • Ablity to develop relevant knowledge

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Specialist Palliative Therapy Team in Bolton. The services provide therapy, care and support for patients in their own home and in the Hospice.

You will work as part of a Multidisciplinary team, which includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Specialist Palliative Nurses, Nurse Assistant Practitioners, Pharmacists, Social Workers and Consultants.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to work with patients independently and jointly with therapy staff on site at the Hospice or within the patient's own home, delivering therapy interventions to patients under the supervision of senior staff. The therapy interventions will include Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service in Bolton where you can really make a difference to people's lives.
