Role summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Dietitian to join a small and friendly team, covering maternity leave until March 2027. This part-time role, up to 15 hours per week, involves providing clinical dietetic services under the guidance of the Lead Dietitian. The position focuses on working with individuals with eating disorders, disordered eating, learning disabilities, and general mental health outpatients. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, participate in student training, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide, maintain and develop a clinical dietetic service.
- Plan, justify and be responsible for the delivery of specialised dietary advice to service users and their families / carers.
- Plan, manage and prioritise own clinical workload and to ensure maximum efficiency in all areas.
- Participate in dietetic student training.
- Work as a member of a clinical multi-disciplinary team, including close working with mental health nurses, psychologists and the physical healthcare team.
Essential criteria
- Registered Dietitian with current HCPC registration
- BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
- Evidence of CPD
- Experience of working in an MDT and ability to discuss management plans and their implications with the MDT
- Wide range of post registration dietetic experience including delivery of services for inpatient and in the community
- Experience of training Student Dietitians
- Literate in IT/Computer Skills
- Excellent verbal communications skills, ability to communicate with a wide range of people using different medias
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage own caseload
- Ability to work independently and in a team recognising own and others' limitations
- Be able to travel independently without the use of public transport
Desirable criteria
- Membership of British Dietetic Association (BDA)
- Post registration training in associated area which supports practice
- Experience of working in a mental health setting (including inpatient and community)
- Experience working with people who have/had Eating Disorders
- Experience of working with people who have a Learning Disability

We are currently looking to recruit a dietitian with some experience working in mental health, for up to 15 hours per week, until end of March 2027.
This role would suit someone with an interest in working in eating disorders, disordered eating, learning disability and general mental health outpatients.
