Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and highly motivated Enhanced Clinical Practitioner to join the Trauma Assessment & Coordination Team (TAC team) within the Trauma & Orthopaedic department at University Hospitals Dorset. The role involves working with an established team to provide, develop, and maintain a high-quality service for patients, relatives, and carers. The successful candidate will have previous trauma, orthopaedic, or orthogeriatric experience, or be on the ECP pathway, and will contribute to delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Essential criteria
- Current registration with relevant professional body.
- Degree level qualification.
- Enhanced Clinical Practice qualification, Level 6 or equivalent experience
- Recognised mentoring qualification or equivalent experience Relevant post-graduate specialist Masters Level Advanced Clinical Practice course or already working towards
Desirable criteria
- Level 7 Post registration/post-graduate qualification.
- Management and/or Leadership course relevant to healthcare environment.
- Supplementary or Independent prescriber
- Demonstrable experience of managing a discrete aspect of a patient's care at an enhanced level of practice with specific knowledge and skills in a field of expertise within an orthopaedic context.
- Experience of managing change as part of service and practice development.
- Experience of regular participation in research and development, leading clinical audits in own specialist area.
- Experience of supervising, teaching, mentoring and developing staff.
- Experience of developing and implementing policies and protocols
- Experience of working in partnership with all levels of staff, evidencing the ability to plan and co-ordinate the provision of specialised care.
- Able to demonstrate ability to deliver training and education to patients
- Attendance at QI Lite or equivalent quality improvement course.
- Demonstrable enhanced clinical skills, within an orthopaedic context
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information from patient assessment and interventions, and freedom to act in managing patients 'care
- Clinical reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making skills at an enhanced level
- Demonstrable ability to work in a busy environment and resilience when the service is under pressure.
- To be competent to deal calmly and professionally with patients, relatives anAbility to work unsupervised and on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.d work colleagues in a confidential and sensitive manner.
- Dexterity, co-ordination for driving, keyboard skills; use of specialist equipment and tools.
- Able to demonstrate highly specialised theoretical and practical, enhanced knowledge of orthopaedic specialty and common presentations
- Understanding of the principles of effective budgetary management.
- Understanding of the theory and application of Clinical Governance

Job summary
The Trauma & Orthopaedic department at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) delivers care to adult patients and the service is transforming in response to the needs of our community. Our team are always developing to be able to deliver safe,effective and patient centred care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, highly motivated and passionate Enhanced Clinical Practitioner with excellent communication skills to take on the role of Enhanced Clinical Practitioner in the Trauma Assessment & Coordination Team (TAC team).
Working with the already established team we are seeking to recruit someone with the commitment to help us provide, develop and maintain a high quality service for patients their relatives and carers visiting the department.
The successful candidate will have previous trauma, orthopaedic and / or orthogeriatric (frailty) experience and meet the criteria of the job description and personal specification. We will also consider someone who is already on the ECP pathway.
Please note:Elective orthopaedics is currently based at Bournemouth hospital with plans to move to Poole Hospital as part of the restructuring of services across UHD and vice versa for Trauma. Staff recruited are expected to be available to
