Role summary
This role is for a Community Healthcare Assistant within the South Telford District Nursing Team. You will visit patients in their homes to provide clinical care under supervision. The position requires a motivated individual with good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their own homes. There is an expectation to undertake an in-house development program for extended skills like insulin administration and wound care.
Essential criteria
- Good general level of education (to include Maths and English)
- Equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3
- Completion of the Care Certificate
- Awareness of the role of the Healthcare Support Worker
- Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of the role of the health care assistant role in context, including phlebotomy and wound care, and other clinical skills relevant to role
- Awareness of accountability issues e.g. confidentiality
- Knowledge of situations and circumstances that can impact on patient safety and demonstrate understanding of how the healthcare support worker contributes to maintaining patient safety
- Good interpersonal skills (written and oral)
- The ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff both written and orally and demonstrate a level of English language and grammar commensurate with writing in service user case notes
- Ability to remain calm when faced with a potentially difficult situation
- Transport
- Must be able to meet the transport requirements of the post.
