Role summary

This role involves working in the Patient Service Hub, handling incoming calls from patients and healthcare professionals, dealing with queries, and forwarding them to appropriate teams. The position requires working for both the phone hub and clinic typing teams within the Patient Contact Pillar.

Key responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls from patients and Health Care Professionals, dealing with queries and forwarding them as necessary.
  • Monitor Patient Service and Patient Contact inboxes and call queries.
  • Produce high standard Clinic Letters using the Big Hand dictation system, ensuring target times are met.
  • Book patient appointments including Outpatients, Cancer/Diagnostic appointments, and Elective theatre procedures.
  • Contact patients via telephone, SMS, or letter with information relevant to their appointment or procedure.
  • Liaise with other Patient Service Hub teams and departments, as well as wider Trust/Group/Healthcare services.

Essential criteria

  • GCSE Grade C and above in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Experience of customer care or experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office to include Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work on own initiative
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills, written and verbally
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
