Role summary
Join a friendly, supportive, and innovative team on the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at the Royal United Hospital Bath. This role involves providing initial assessment, investigation, and treatment for medical conditions, as well as ongoing care and facilitating safe transfers or discharges. You will work closely with A&E and Ambulatory Care to improve patient flow and reduce wait times. The trust offers continued support through preceptorship, personal development reviews, and in-house training.
Essential criteria
- oRegistered Nurse Part 1,2,12 oState Registered with Nursing & Midwifery Council
- oThorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified nurse. oUnderstanding of equality & diversity and how to apply it to self. oUnderstanding of NMC Code of Practice and requirements of it for own practice & behaviour.
- oDemonstrates effective nursing practice in all basic registered nurse procedures. oDemonstrates an empathetic and caring approach to patients and relatives and ensure that patients' dignity & respect is maintained at all times. oAble to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate. oAble to work under own initiative within boundaries of role. oDemonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team. oDemonstrates awareness of research-based practice.
- oAble to communicate effectively verbally and written to staff, patients and relatives ensuring that communication is tailored to the person being addressed. oAble to document observations, results, decisions and actions etc effectively in patient notes and communicate these effectively to appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team. oMotivated, and able to articulate reasons for desire, to work in this clinical area. oAble to supervise HCAs and students effectively when required.
