Role summary

This role is for a clinical commercial specialist to act as a conduit between procurement and theatres within the Kent and Medway ICS. The primary responsibility is to identify and deliver financial savings and efficiencies in clinical areas through product trials, supplier relationship management, and contract management. The successful candidate will have experience in both commercial and clinical environments, with strong knowledge of clinical products, ideally within healthcare commercial and theatre clinical settings.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the procurement savings strategy in theatres (target of £500,000 per annum).
  • Facilitate trials of alternate products.
  • Negotiate favourable contractual terms with suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance against agreed terms.
  • Produce and present analysis on spend data to clinical leaders.
  • Act as a conduit between procurement and theatres.
  • Collaborate with peer organisations across Kent & Medway to drive standardisation and benefit from economies of scale.

Essential criteria

  • Degree standard of education in business or clinical nursing/theatre practitioner qualification
  • Advanced knowledge of contracts, procurement legislation and purchasing procedures
  • Experience of working in a clinical setting or equivalent specialist knowledge of clinical products
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement statistical analysis, option modelling and benefit realisation
  • Proven track record in innovation with an ability to inspire
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing people and leading change projects
  • Calm influencing and persuasive skills in negotiating both internally and externally
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Good working knowledge of Integra eSeries and / or a similar finance and procurement systems

  • MCIPS full by qualification or other relevant professional qualification or commercial experience
