Role summary

This role is for an experienced staff nurse to join the emergency department at Queens Hospital Burton. You will work across all areas including Pitstop, Majors, Resus, and the Urgent Treatment Centre, caring for both adults and children with adequate training provided. Key responsibilities

  • Prioritise, assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of care to an agreed and expected high standard.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process.
  • Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.
  • Participate fully in a structured competency based programmes, as required while working in all areas of the Emergency Department.

  • Experience within an acute trust
  • Evidence of mentoring, supporting and developing staff
  • Ability to assess risks and take appropriate action
  • Ability to manage own workload - prioritising and re-prioritising care
  • Ability to overcome barriers to communication

  • Previous experience of working within an Emergency Department
  • Completion of practice supervisor/accessor or working towards
  • Clinical skills such as - venepuncture, cannulation, ECG
  • Previous experience in motivating and reassuring patients and staff

Job summary

We are seeking experienced staff nurses to join us in our emergency department at Queens Hospital Burton. Working in our ED you will get to work in all areas of the department - Pitstop, Majors, resus and our newly built urgent treatment centre. As we are a dual ED we see both adults and children, you will be given adequate training for this.
