Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse or Learning Disability Nurse to work on a busy acute inpatient treatment ward at The Scarisbrick Centre. The role involves delivering compassionate, recovery-focused care and treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing care for service users with severe and enduring mental illness. The position is suitable for both experienced and newly qualified nurses, with support for preceptorship if needed.
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification
- On-going registration with the NMC. Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
- Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983
- Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Demonstrate understanding of how research has influenced practice
- Can provide evidence of recent professional/personal development
- An understanding and awareness of the NHS Plan, NSF and other relevant documentation Knowledge of common mental health problems and medication used in relation to these Knowledge of common physical health conditions Understanding and knowledge of physical and mental health promotion
- Experience of involvement in innovative nursing practise and multicultural nursing environments Supervision and management of staff Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs Experienced in acting as a mentor/assessor of student staff Experience of CPA
- Experience of interacting therapeutically with distress and /or disturbed individuals Enhanced knowledge of risk assessment and management.

We are looking for highly motivated staff nurses who possess excellent clinical expertise and interpersonal qualities that are able to deliver compassionate recovery focused care and treatment. The successful candidate must be a committed to effective teamwork and be able to work collaboratively as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team that delivers high quality person centred care.
