Role summary
This role involves working as part of a team to perform the complete decontamination and sterilisation process of reusable medical devices, including surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes. You will follow ISO accredited policies and procedures, and provide training and mentoring to staff. The position is based within the Sterile Services Department at both University Hospital North Tees and University Hospital Hartlepool Endoscope Decontamination Units.
Essential criteria
- Willing to work towards a Decontamination Qualification or TVQ Level 2
Desirable criteria
- TVQ Level 2. Member of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences
- Previous experience of working in Sterile Services or similar industry with transferrable skills.
- Experience in Sterile Services or ISO 13485 and MDD Standards
- Excellent listening/communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team member
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Good keyboard, IT skills. High level of literacy and numeracy
- Experience in LEAN principles
- Empathetic to individuals learning styles

Job summary
Working as part of a team you will be involved in the complete decontamination and sterilisation process of reusable medical devices including surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes, following ISO accredited policies, procedures and work instructions. To provide training and mentoring to both new and current SSD/Endoscopy staff.
Main duties of the job
As a CSSD Technician you will play a key role in delivering all decontamination related duties based within the Sterile Services Department at both University Hospital North Tees and University Hospital Hartlepool Endoscope Decontamination Units.
The post holder will work in line with the departmental work instructions, whilst adhering to the ISO accredited policies and procedures in all aspects of the Sterile Services Department and flexible endoscope decontamination.
