Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the acute medical team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. The role involves practicing under supervision to provide advanced patient-centred care, encompassing assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment. The successful candidate will develop skills as an autonomous practitioner, providing evidence-based practice and contributing to clinical care, quality improvement, education, and research. Upon successful completion of training, the role will become a permanent ACP position at Band 8a.
Key responsibilities
- Practice under supervision to provide advanced patient-centred care within an agreed scope of practice.
- Incorporate skills of assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within the four pillars of advanced practice.
- Assist in the safe assessment, management, referral, and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations.
- Develop skills as an autonomous practitioner providing evidence-based practice throughout the training programme.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise, competence, and confidence to work within an autonomous and defined sphere of practice upon completion.
- Maintain records and collaborate effectively with healthcare colleagues.
Essential criteria
- Ability to motivate individuals and teams
- High standard of oral and written communication skills and confidence to discuss patient management with other members of the MDT
- High level of capability using outcome measures and audit
- Ability to critique own practice
- In-depth knowledge in their specialist clinical field
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively and to work in a high pressure environment
- Excellent liaison and negotiation skills
- Commitment to staff development and training Self motivated and able to work independently and autonomously both within the trust and with partner organisations
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Experience of working within Urgent Care
- Evidence of managing in stressful and emotional situations where life-changing events are being communicated and clinically managed
- Inspirational, with ability to motivate a team
- Positive, problem solving approach to issues
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
- Professional and patient focused, with a strong commitment to providing high quality care
- Flexible and adaptable, able to work all shifts throughout 24 hour period
- With support is able to successfully initiate and manage change
- Excellent interpersonal skills with effective oral and written communication skills
- In depth knowledge of issues and developments in speciality-specific area of practice
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the role of the ACP
- IT literate
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Registered with relevant professional body
- Degree-level registration qualification or equivalent post-registration award
