Role summary
This role is for a Lead Mental Health Nurse within a compassionate Community Mental Health Team in Derby City. The successful candidate will undertake comprehensive initial assessments for individuals entering the long-term intervention pathway and support them in navigating care services. The role involves working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team, contributing to high-quality, person-centred mental health care. Training and supervision will be provided to ensure confidence in all aspects of the role.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive initial assessments for individuals entering the long-term intervention pathway.
- Work alongside Consultant Psychiatrists to provide holistic assessments.
- Support service users to understand and navigate their care pathways.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred mental health care.
- Be a role model, offering mentoring and supervision to other staff and students.
Essential criteria
- NMC registered Mental Health Nurse
- Degree/ Diploma in Nursing
- Membership of a nursing professional body and / or special interest group
- Team working evidence
- Evidence of excellent verbal and non verbal communication skills
- Relevant recent, post graduate experience
- Experience of working with people who have severe and enduring needs
- Experience of supervising staff and students
- Experience of audit, research and clinical governance procedures and their application in practice
- High level understanding of Mental Health disorders and treatment models
- Extensive knowledge of the principles of Safety planning
Desirable criteria
- ENB998/Mentoring in Practice
- Group work experience
- Experience of working in community with people with mental health needs
- Experience of completing comprehensive initial mental health assessments
