Role summary
This role is for a compassionate and motivated Paediatric Clinical Support Worker to join a dedicated team on the Paediatric Ward and Paediatric Assessment Unit. You will work with children and young people requiring emergency and elective care, supporting a multidisciplinary team. The position offers diverse clinical experiences and opportunities for professional development within a fast-paced acute care environment. You will contribute to providing outstanding care to patients and their families.
Key responsibilities
- Complete and document Paediatric Early Warning Scores (PEWS) accurately and promptly, recognising and reporting signs of deterioration.
- Undertake phlebotomy and collect blood samples from children and young people in accordance with Trust policies.
- Support children and young people undergoing investigations, procedures and treatments using age-appropriate communication.
- Assist with the completion and maintenance of patient records and documentation, both paper-based and electronic.
- Ensure clinical areas are clean, tidy, safe and welcoming, and maintain stock levels of clinical and non-clinical supplies.
- Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised care under the direction but not direct supervision of the registered professional.
Essential criteria
- Obtained an educational level of GCSE level A - C English and Maths or equivalent
- NVQ /Diploma level 3 or equivalent higher apprenticeship in healthcare
- Care certificate
- Experience in delivering care to paediatrics and their families in a hospital environment
- Experience working as part of a team
- Evidence of competence in care skills
- Able to delegate work appropriately
- Good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Competent IT skills
- Able to present information, written and orally in an accurate clear and logical manner
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Ability to write accurate and legibly in patient notes
- Able to work as part of a team
- Compassionate and caring nature

- Reliable

- Paediatric Basic Life Support
