Role summary
This is an exciting training opportunity for someone passionate about mental health to develop a career as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. You will undertake a professional training programme at Newman University in Birmingham, gaining valuable clinical experience within the service. The role involves splitting time between university attendance, self-directed study, and clinical practice, learning to deliver low-intensity cognitive behavioural interventions. You will support screening, triaging referrals, conducting assessments, and providing face-to-face and remote interventions. Comprehensive support, including clinical and caseload supervision, will be provided throughout your training.
Essential criteria
- Successful applicants will hold qualifications suitable for their chosen level of study:
- Postgraduate Certificate (M Level) qualification route
- A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent, such as Registered Nurses, Social Workers or Allied Health Professionals.
- OR
- Graduate Certificate route
- 2 Advanced Level GCEs at grades A-C or equivalent, such as BTEC, GNVQ, NVQ Level 3 or 4.
- Experience of working with adults who have experienced common mental health difficulties.
- The ability to engage, inspire and motivate people.
- An understanding of client needs and the ability to identify potential barriers to engagement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong telephone skills.
- The ability to evaluate and apply new skills and knowledge gained through training and development.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while managing your own responsibilities.
- A compassionate and person-centred approach to supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties.
