Role summary

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Mental Health or Learning Disability nurse to join the Prison Community Mental Health team at HMP Birmingham. The role involves providing mental health nursing to prisoners, particularly those with serious and enduring mental illness, personality disorders, and acute phases of illness. It includes risk assessment, care management, and liaison with various agencies within and outside the prison environment. The post supports the Inreach pathway for individuals with identified mental illness on CPA.

Fantastic opportunity has risen for an experienced Mental Health or Learning Disability nurses to join the Prison Community Mental Health team as a Band 6 CPN here at HMP Birmingham for a 12-month fixed term period.

This part-time post is in our busy mental health team supporting our Inreach pathway, which supports those with an identified mental illness and are on CPA.

HMP Birminghamwhich is an Adult Category B prison with a diverse range of nursing needs. HMP Birmingham currently holds a maximum of 970 prisoners, with a combination of both sentenced and remand Adult males.

This brings a great opportunity to embrace change and embed culture. The role will be an experience like no other, requiring a diverse mixed nursing skills background and attracts nurses from a range of professional specialist areas, such as Assertive Outreach and Forensic Services.
