Role summary
This is an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for a Midwife passionate about infant feeding to lead the Midwifery Infant Feeding team. The role involves developing infant feeding practices within Maternity services, supporting staff, and leading the Baby Friendly Initiative Level 2 accreditation project. The successful candidate will be a specialist professional with advanced knowledge in infant feeding, providing support to colleagues and parents, and ensuring compliance with national standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Infant Feeding team and support staff in embedding Baby Friendly UNICEF Standards.
- Serve as a recognised specialised professional with advanced knowledge in infant feeding.
- Provide valuable information and support to colleagues and parents regarding infant feeding.
- Work collaboratively with the Neonatal and Maternity MDT to coordinate infant feeding activities.
- Ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators and National Directive Programs like the Baby Friendly Initiative.
- Lead quality improvement projects to enhance Neonatal outcomes.
Essential criteria
- Current NMC Registration (Level 1 Midwifery).
- Degree in Midwifery studies or healthcare-related subject.
- Mentorship qualification / equivalent and or Practice Assessor training.
- Evidence of leadership qualities.
- Awareness of national Health and Social Care policy.
- Knowledge of best practice in area of specialism.
- Thorough understanding of expanded roles / professional practice issues.
- Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information, where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathic or reassurance skills are required.
- Able to work without supervision.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
- Proven interpersonal skills.
- Practice assessor / supervision skills.
- Appraisal skills.
- Evidence of competency in relation to midwifery practices appropriate to the Post.
- Ability to assist patients to move as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy.

Job summary
We are pleased to be offering a very exciting opportunity for a Midwife with a passion for infant feeding to take on the role of Midwifery Infant Feeding Lead on a 12-month, fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.
Are you someone with extensive Maternity experience, with advanced knowledge in infant feeding and the vision and passion to help develop infant feeding practices within the Maternity service. You will need to be pro-active in decision making, with a forward-focused approach and good collaborative skills to deliver high-quality care to our Neonates and their families.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Infant Feeding team, supporting staff and being project lead for the Baby Friendly Initiative Level 2 accreditation.
