Role summary
This role involves supporting the band 4 cath lab co-ordinator to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Cardiology Department. Key duties include welcoming patients and visitors, handling enquiries, bookings, and appointments via various channels. The post-holder will work closely with staff to deliver high-quality service, requiring good communication and interpersonal skills. It involves independent work, prioritising workload, and using initiative within trust policies.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English at Grade C or above
- Trained to a high standard in using the In-Patient Waiting List on PAS
Desirable criteria
- RSA stage III word processing or equivalent
- At least 2 years experience as a secretary/administrator within the Healthcare setting
- At least 1 years experience in an admissions environment
- Experience of working with computer systems, to include Microsoft Office Software
- Experience of internal computer systems including PAS, Solus, ICE and DPR
- Experience of working with staff at all levels
- Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
- Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams and patients.
- Evidence of ability to respond quickly to changing priorities organising and prioritising own and team workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to work on own initiative and Evidence of ability to work without direct supervision within broad procedural guidelines.
- Ability to deal with members of the public in a diplomatic manner
- An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained
- Evidence of ability to exercise judgment when dealing with queries and to analyse and resolve problems
- To be able to demonstrate integrity and professionalism when dealing difficult situations
- Knowledge of the cardiology department and its medical terminology

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated team member to join us in the Cardiology Department.
The role includes supporting our band 4 cath lab co-ordinator inorder to maintain the smooth, efficient running of the department. This would includewelcoming patients, clinicians, and visitors to the department, dealing with enquiries, bookings and appointments via the telephone, email and in person. The post-holder will work closely with all members of staff in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service. This will require good communication and interpersonal skills, a knowledge of PAS with a willingness to learn new systems specific to cardiology.
The post holder will be expected towork independently, using their own initiative to make independent judgement within trust policies and guidelines. The role will suit a team player who is also able to act on their own initiative and prioritise their workload with flexibility to the daily operational demands.
