Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse to work on Ward T5, a twenty-four bedded major Trauma Ward within the new Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital at Salford Royal. The role involves assessing patient care needs, developing and evaluating care programmes, and providing daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff. The post holder will support the Ward / Unit Manager in the effective running of the department and deputise in their absence.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult / General Level 1 or 2)
- Degree level studies or equivalent portfolio of evidence.
- Substantial post registration experience
- Significant experience at Band 5 or Band 6 level
- Knowledge about the care of major trauma patients and patients who have sustained traumatic brain injury
- Experience of co-ordination and team leadership
- Experience of audit completion and quality improvement
Desirable criteria
- Significant experience in trauma
- Achieved Level 1 Major Trauma Nurse Competency
- Completed relevant Leadership and Management courses
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance Audits

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 post working within the Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital at Salford Royal, on Ward T5.
T5 is a twenty-four bedded major Trauma Ward situated within the new Greater Manchester Major Trauma hospital (GMMTH) at Salford Care Organisation which sits within Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN). The ward opened its doors in January 2024 and provides care for patients who have sustained polytraumatic injuries requiring input from a variety of specialities including, trauma and orthopaedics, neurology, spinal and general surgery.
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and development, devising, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, both for a specific group of patients as the named care provider and in supporting the care of all patients. You will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence based practice. Actively support the Ward / Unit Manager in the effective running of the department including in their absence.
