Role summary
This is an exciting development opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Complex Disability Team, managing a varied caseload of children with various conditions. The role involves working in family homes and education settings, requiring travel between locations. Team-working is crucial, collaborating with other disciplines and services like social care and education. The successful candidate will have Band 5 experience in core rotations and postgraduate paediatric experience, being confident in assessment and treatment of paediatric conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Assesses and treats own caseload of paediatric patients and maintains associated records.
- Responsible for Training & Development of junior staff, students, and other staff groups in this speciality, supervising less experienced staff, assistants, and students.
- Participates as a member of the therapy team and the MDT within a specified clinical area.
- Has a responsibility regarding own CPD and other developmental activities.
- Involvement in identifying and carrying out departmental audit, research, or service development activity in line with local and national guidelines.
Essential criteria
- Graduate Diploma or BSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification recognised by HCPC
- HCPC registration
- Active collection of relevant CPD in portfolio
- Appropriate experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist
- Previous care experience
- Core Rotations as an Occupational Therapist in a range of core areas: o Orthopaedics o Medical or Frailty Inpatients o Neurological Rehabilitation
- Experience working as part of multidisciplinary team
- Basic computer skills, including use of an electronic patient record system
- Good written and oral communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapists or similar
- High level of clinical reasoning with excellent
- theoretical knowledge underpinning practice
- Demonstrate a good awareness of needs of patient and appropriate action to take
- Experience supervising junior, students, apprentices or non-registered staff
- Student Educator Course
- Understanding of national issues and relating them to own clinical practice

Job summary
An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to work in our Complex disability Team. The post holder will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of children with a range of conditions. Children are seen in a variety of settings, including family homes and education settings and therefore the ability to travel between settings is essential for this role. Staff may also be expected to work across the Children's service dependent on service need. Team-working is an important part of this role, and you will regularly work with other disciplines and service including social care and education. We have an excellent supervision and support structure, and you will receive a full induction on commencement of the post.
The successful applicant will have gained experience at band 5 level in core rotations and have some post graduate experience of working in paediatrics and be familiar and confident with assessment and treatment of a full range of paediatric conditions.
